On occasion my inner-voice would refer to myself as a “Lazy Perfectionist.” This title, I believe, is to justify my sometimes contradicting actions.
I am habitually lazy; I like to lie in bed for hours and dislike taking any unnecessary steps to complete a task – it REALLY annoys me! So before taking on a task, be it simple like bringing in groceries or a really difficult conundrum, I take a minute to meditate on all possible solutions until I can find the most simplest and less active. Along with that, I like to get things right the first time – so that I don’t have to do it again.
Subsequently, I strive for perfection. Every subject endeavor I tangent toward achieving perfect execution – if it is not 100% right, then I will have to re work on that % I have not achieved. On the other hand, I love to have things symmetrically appealing; when organizing items on my desk, closet or PC everything must have its place and adhere to an attractive format. This remains itching to me everyday; alas my lazy side has its collisions with this desire.
And that is where I get it wrong. If I become too lazy to ascertain tasks perfection, I am fuelling the former unfairly. Contrarily I sometimes waste time on a superfluous matter until it is perfect. Both situations are not acceptable for either of my convictions nor is it acceptable in productive-oriented society.
Concluding everything I have said to the point of this blog – I believe that it is possible, or rather, ideal for a person to be lazy and stick to their own times as long as they are perfectionists. If one can achieve the same results/or better with less amount of work, then they should be privileged to keep their “saved” time to themselves and for themselves and needn’t be criticized by people for their slow, seemingly counter-productive attitude.
So I say, BE LAZY! Follow your own watch! All as long as you keep logical perfection in active practice. I am definitely trying to iron-out my fallbacks, but one day I will become the ideal Lazy Perfectionist.
